About Dr. Juhi Gautam, MBBS, MRCP and MRCGP
Dr Juhi Gautam has been practising yoga for over 25 years. She grew up in vedic culture in one of the holy places in India. The inheritance of ayurveda and yogic wisdom was passed on to her from her ancestoral lineage. The vedic lifestyle was a way of life for her as it was practised by her parents at home. This involved regular practice of yoga, pranyam, meditation, vegetarianism, prayers, chanting, satsang, reading of the ancient scriptures. This unique way of life gave her profound insight into the world outside and her internal realisations. Also it prepared her to understand and value the inherited ancient wisdom, in relation to the journey she was about to embark upon. Juhi graduated as a doctor in 1997 from Banglore, India. She came to the UK in 1998 to further her academic qualifications. She became a member of the Royal college of physicians (RCP) in 2002. Dr Gautam is also a member of the Royal college of General practitioners in London. During her career in internal medicine she trained through cardiology under Professor Beevers of British Heart foundation and intervention cardiologist Richard Carroll, St.Johns Wood St Elizabeth hospital, London. Her observation about western medicine was that, it largely was driven by the pharmaceutical industry and missed the holistic touch. During her time as a specialist registrar in some of the leading hospitals in London like Chelsea Westminster and Charing Cross, she made the transition to general practice in order to fulfill the dream of providing holistic care to the patients in the community. Through her knowledge of traditional yoga science she now integrates this with conventional medicine to help her patients. Dr Gautam believes that the disease develops due to an imbalance. This imbalance is a physical manifestation disharmony in mind, body and spirit. Integrating the treatment modalities that address the three vital components of health can bring a state of complete homeostasis. She also is the founder of chantingyoga which is revolutionary and preventative method in the modern health care setting as it addresses the needs of the modern hectic lifestyle on all three levels of physical, mental and spiritual health.
She also is a pioneer in bridging the gap between the modern medicine and the ancient eastern vedic science by bringing the practical application of principles of the most popular sacred vedic scripture "Bhagvadgita". This approach is innovative and she has helped thousands of patients and health professionals who are frustrated and stressed in spite of using the multidisciplinary approach followed in the present healthcare system. Her method is now being widely used by the health professionals, patients on the NHS and in private health care. Also her system of education and stress relieving techniques are gaining popularity among the corporates. She covers a wide spectrum in education by offering lectures in schools, universities and corporate programs.
She has featured in articles like GP life in the national magazine in the UK for general practitioners.
